A six-year-old boy has died after being crushed by a falling tree branch in Victoria.
The child was playing with friends when he was struck by a large branch on a private property off Bells Rd in Gowangardie, 30km from Shepparton, just after 8am on Thursday.

He was found with critical injuries by family members who were watching nearby.
The boy died at the scene.
It’s yet to be confirmed whether the tragedy is linked to wild weather that has lashed the state this week.

The boy’s death comes just two days after a man was killed when a branch fell on his property at Caringal.
“Emergency services provided medical assistance however the 44-year-old Bunyip man died at the scene,” Victoria Police said.
Two people also died after flash flooding hit a campground in Buchan on Boxing Day.
Police discovered the body of a man on Wednesday afternoon, a day after the body of a woman was found at a campground on Cave Rd.
The pair is believed to have been camping together.
Victoria’s State Emergency Service has responded to more than 1000 assistance requests over three days since Christmas.
Most of the calls came from Frankston, Shepparton, Bendigo and the state’s west.
