Storms and powerful winds have swept parts of Victoria, downing trees and damaging structures, and there is likely more to come.
Victoria State Emergency Service crews responded to nearly 350 calls for help overnight on Thursday, including more than 100 reports of building damage.
More than one-third of the call-outs were for the Warrnambool region, on the state’s southwest coast, where a local football club was knocked down by the wind.

The town recorded wind gusts of more than 100 km/h on Friday morning, accompanied by widespread showers.

The Bureau of Meteorology issue a severe weather warning that wind gusts of up to 110km/h could hit Victoria’s southwest coast on Friday before the storms travel east.
The SES warned people to avoid travel if possible and to be wary of any hazards such as floodwater or debris such as fallen trees.

Police were called to Mount Buller just after 10am on Friday when a driver lost control and the car slipped off the road, down an embankment and landed on a tree.
Four people were inside the vehicle and one suffered minor injuries and was trapped for a short time.

The other three were uninjured.
In Bonang, in Victoria’s alpine region, Bonang Rd was closed in both directions due to a felled tree and a collision. It is unknown at this stage if the crash was caused by the tree.
“Closures may be in place for several hours so consider delaying travel. Allow plenty of extra time taking any detours,” VicTraffic said.
The bureau has predicted a cold and windy day for Melbourne, with a high chance of showers and the possibility of hail in the evening.
