A mother and her children have been trapped between floodwaters in Queensland’s southeast.

The woman, travelling with her four children in the regional town of Bungunya in Goondiwindi, raised the alarm when their car became trapped between flooded waterways near Meandarra Talwood Rd about 4.20am on Thursday.

Queensland Ambulance told 7NEWS.com.au that rescue crews were immediately sent out to help, however, the service soon lost contact with the family due to their remote location.

Once contact was re-established, they found the family had managed to make their way across the floodwaters to safety.

QAS said no one had been injured in the ordeal.

Heavy rains have hammered parts of Queensland’s southeast over the past week, with a moderate flood warning currently issued by the Bureau of Meteorology for several rivers, including the Moonie River.

Moderate flooding is expected downstream of Flinton, just north of where the family became trapped.
